Update 5/17: The show might continue beyond season 12, according to a report from Deadline.
Here's a statement from CBS entertainment president, Kelly Kahl:
We are hopeful that there will be more seasons of Big Bang beyond the upcoming 12th.
As long as Chuck and his team have stories to tell, we will take the show for as long as they want to go. We can take a few more seasons.
The Big Bang Theory's upcoming twelfth season will probably mark as its final run on CBS. Star Johnny Galecki has hinted about the hit sitcom's future in a report from TV Guide.
The only manner in which the cast has discussed wrapping [The Big Bang Theory] has been that we're all going to be very sad when that day comes.
But I think at this point everyone's very comfortable with 12 seasons being a good time to go home and see our families.
Big Bang Theory Season 12 Spoilers
Don't expect Shamy to have babies just yet, EP Steve Molaro confirmed when asked about the Young Sheldon episode which revealed that the newly-weds are bound to have kids in the future.
There are no plans for Sheldon and Amy to start having babies anytime soon.
So just because adult Sheldon has referred to it, there's no timeline that we're locked into.
More TBBT and Young Sheldon crossovers are coming, Molaro teased:
We've created this unique time portal that I don't think I've seen too much on other shows where we can bounce back and forth 30 years.
There are certainly other people [from Young Sheldon] that we can still meet on Big Bang.
Season 12 is slated to premiere this fall.
