Not only has the CW signed a four year streaming deal with Netflix, but Friday they also brokered a five year licensing agreement with Hulu for rights to stream the network’s current season episodes. Later this year, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Supernatural, Ringer, Nikita, Gossip Girl, Hart Of Dixie, 90210 and America’s Next Top Model will all be available on Hulu’s free, ad-supported service as well as their subscription based Hulu Plus(7.99 month).
Hulu Plus will offer the last five episodes of the CW series’ the day after they air on the network. For non-subscribed(non-paying) users, the same episodes will be available for viewing eight days after their original air date.
“As we increase the amount of year-round original programming on The CW, this deal provides our shows with greater exposure on a new platform, helping build even more awareness that will drive viewers back to the network and its affiliates,” said CW chief Mark Pedowitz. “We see this as a win for everyone involved, the network, the stations, Hulu and ultimately, the viewers.”
